Ian Mitchell
Ian’s career started with him working as a Structural Steelwork Draughtsman for a fabrication company in Huddersfield where the varied workload always had a strong emphasis on complex structures. After moving to a Sub Contract Drawing office in Wetherby in 1985 further experienced was gained working on larger contracts, managing and drawing projects for a number of major UK fabricators. Ian went on to work on a freelance basis continuing to work on complex structures with many projects being for specialist fabricators Westbury Tubular Structures, Tubemasters and SH structures.
In April 2000 Ian joined SHS on a permanent basis firstly as Drawing Office Manager and then Design Manager, to oversee the growing in house drawing office and manage all Sub Let design and drawing work. Ian has gained his extensive experience on many of the UK’s landmark complex steel structures.
