The STIHL Treetop Walkway wins a 2016 Wood Award
At a ceremony held in the Carpenters Hall in London the STIHL Treetop Walkway secured a win in the Commercial & Leisure Category. Situated in the grade 1-listed Westonbirt Arboretum the walkway provides a stunning view over the park which houses one of the finest tree collections in the world. This hybrid timber and steel structure is a another demonstration of SH Structures ability to deliver challenging projects which use a mixture of structural elements. the judges said ‘Not only is this a striking composite structure of wood and steel in which wood is doing all the exciting bits; it is also an educational response in itself. It has the ability to inspire all generations to learn more about wood.’ The awards event was a fantastic evening and it was great to share the stage with Simon Pearson from project architects Glenn Howells and Andrew Smith and Sophie Nash from our clients the Forestry Commission. There were some fantastic projects on display and we would like to congratulate all the other teams who were shortlisted and winners in the various categories.
