SH Structures support local schools events

As part of a school project called ‘Dream Big’ which aims to inspire children and  get interested in engineering, we spent a wonderful morning working with the Key Stage One students at the Burley Oaks Primary School in Burley-in-Wharfdale. The children have been  focussing on bridges and we had a great time looking at different types of bridges and how important they are to the built environment. The children showed a real interest in the topic and we hope they will have taken away some our own passion for bridges.

Our ongoing support of local schools and colleges has also seen us supporting a recent careers event at our own local school, Sherburn-in-Elmet High School. For this event we took a more general approach aiming to have students consider all aspects of the construction industry as a possible career path. Future events in 2018 include a STEM presentation followed by a bridge building competition at the nearby Read School Drax and a Technology Symposium at Leeds Beckett University.
