Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme footbridge installed

Over a few wet and windy days the four sections that make up the new footbridge over the River Aire in Leeds were lowered into place. The first section went in on the 26th July with the final piece being landed on the 28th July.  The new structure, designed by Knight Architects, has a slender fabricated deck which varies in width along the bridge.  The widening of the span will enable future users to enjoy the views up and down the river and across the nearby Knostrop weir.   SH Structures have been working closely with main contractor BAM Nuttall, who will complete the scheme over the coming months, to ensure the challenging project runs is delivered successfully.
