M8 Footbridge Installed
Scotland's busiest motorway was closed overnight for the installation of the new footbridge at the Harthill. The 94m long, 230te structure fabricated by |SH Structures, was lifted in successfully and the motorway was opened again ahead of schedule. Work will continue over the coming weeks with the completion of the approach ramps while the 40-year-old existing bridge is dismantled.

Following an audit by the BCSA, SH Structures have achieved Silver Standard under the Steel Construction Sustainability Charter. Achievement of accreditation under this scheme is just one of the targets we have set in the development of our Environmental Management System

Two SH projects short-listed for 2008 Steel Design Awards
Following visits by the judging panel, both the St. Stephen's retail development in Hull and the Savill Building in Windsor Great Park have been short listed for this years Steel Design Awards which will be held in London later this year.

We will no doubt be up against some stiff competition,but it is great that these two interesting projects have been considered favourably.

SH Structures Secures Major Bridge Project
SH Structures have started work on the new feature footbridge which will cross the M8 motorway at Harthill near Glasgow. The 60m span bridge will replace an existing footbridge that serves the motorway services and local bus station.
SH Structures worked with the bridge designers Buro Happold and main contractor Raynesway Construction throughout the tendering process to secure this prestigious project. The final structure will weigh approx. 200te and has a complex helical tubular framework.

SH Structures team pick up award
Members of the SH Structures drawing office team recently collected the award for winners of the Tekla UK Model Competition 2007. The winning submission of the 3d model of the new RAF Museum at Cosford was chosen as winner in the buildings over 150te category. As with all projects the 3d model of the structure plays a major role in the success of a project and is now also being used by site managers for inductions, as part of the company Incident and Injury Free Initiative.
