environment & sustainability
The manufacture, fabrication and installation of structural steelwork has an excellent pedigree as far as environmental impact and sustainability is concerned.
Whilst the company has always had a responsible attitude towards the environment, it recognizes the need to approach this important issue in a more formal manner.
SH Structures have been successfully audited under the BCSA’s Steel Construction Sustainability Charter.
Projects such as the Peter’s Bridge in Norwich demonstrate how good design can minimise the environmental impact of projects. The steel structure has none of its supports within the waterway it spans. Fabricated using weathering steel and with a timber deck sourced responsibly from a managed source means there are no applied treatments on the structure.
