Another successful bridge installation

The first of two bridge structures, that we are providing in Telford, was installed early on Sunday morning 1st July. Weighing 96te. the 34m. span structure was lifted into place using an LG1750 which has a 1250te capacity, making it one of the UK’s largest mobile cranes.

The new bridge will provide access to Telford Station and this first span crosses the existing operational railway line. The structure was built adjacent to the railway and as well as providing the steel structure we have supplied and installed al the finishes which include side glazing, a tensile fabric canopy and internal soffit.  To eliminate the need for future work over the live railway all the finishes were fitted prior to the bridge being installed.

Our contracts team meticulous planning and attention to detail meant the lift only took  four hours to complete allowing the railway and adjacent A442 to be reopened ahead of schedule.

A similar, much larger structure is due to be installed later in the year which will complete the much-needed new link between the town centre and the station.
