SH Structures project wins International Award

The Merchant Square footbridge, in London’s Paddington, secured the Short Span Award at the International Footbridge Awards which were held at the Footbridges 2017 conference in Berlin. The event, which is held every three years, brings together designers and engineers from all around the world so to secure a win is a fantastic achievement.  The credit, of course, goes to Knight Architects whose stunning fan like lifting bridge is a fabulous piece of modern urban design.  Like all such projects it was very much a team effort so we worked closely with AKT II who developed the structural design and Eadon Consulting who designed the operating system.  SH Structures supplied and installed the complete footbridge including the operating system and all finishes. The bridge has already secured a number of awards and also featured in the recent movie Jason Bourne starring Matt Damon.
