Latest Bridge for Leeds City Centre nearing completion

Site assembly of a new footbridge has just started in Leeds City Centre. The 30m span structure will cross the River Aire linking the aptly named ‘Water Lane’ on the south to Sovereign Street on the North. The bridge will be named in honour of David Oluwale who tragically drowned in 1969 after being racially harassed.

SH Structures worked with the BAM Nuttall and Mott Macdonald JV assisting with ECI for Leeds City Council, before working with the design team to produce a solution that would be fit for purpose whilst working to a strict budget.

A symbol of the diversity of Leeds, the new bridge is due to be installed at the end of March this year.
